A book from the Department of Theology

Psychotherapy and Exorcism is an initiative of the Department of Theology of the Keppe Pacheco Trilogical College, in Cambuquira, Brazil.

The project

Why this book, and why now.

Keppe published Psychotherapy and Exorcism in 2018, at eighty-eight, after six decades of clinical work. It is the shortest statement of a thesis he had been developing since the 1950s: that the phenomena religion calls possession and the phenomena medicine calls psychosis are one phenomenon, and that the separation of the two disciplines has made it impossible to treat either.

The Department of Theology of the Keppe Pacheco Trilogical College produced this site, the English and Portuguese editions, and the podcast series that accompanies them — so that a book written in São Paulo can be read, argued with and tested anywhere.

The book is free here, and always will be. It is offered as a working document, not a product: something to be read alongside the archive, the teleclasses and the clinical literature, and judged by what it explains.

The author

Norberto R. Keppe

Award-winning scientist, author and humanitarian, Keppe trained in Vienna, where he worked with Viktor E. Frankl at the Polyclinic Hospital and School of Existential Analysis, with Knut Baumgarten at the Child Guidance Clinic and with Igor Caruso in the Deep Psychology Circle.

He was a guest professor for many years at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) in São Paulo and at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine, among other institutions, and attended clients all over the world — five years in New York and eight in Europe, where he developed most of his work in socio-pathology, metaphysics and the new physics.

He wrote more than thirty books, translated into eight languages, and founded the science of Analytical Trilogy: a unification of theology, philosophy and science applied to the individual, to society and to the question of the spiritual.

“Undoubtedly the most original heterodox contemporary writer of our times.”French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS)

FATRI — the Faculdade Trilógica Keppe & Pacheco — teaches Analytical Trilogy in Cambuquira, Brazil, and online, with graduate programmes in clinical practice, education, theology and the socio-economic applications of the science. Its Department of Theology is responsible for this project.

The college works alongside the International STOP the Destruction of the World Association, founded by Cláudia Bernhardt Pacheco, and the Society of Analytical Trilogy, founded by Keppe and Pacheco in 1972.

“The human being is very much afraid of seeing that which he calls the unknown, and this is the reason he remains isolated from reality.”
